Autocad 3d Modeling: Thickness And Elevation
Autocad 3d Modeling: Thickness And Elevation
Thickness is an object property that gives the object a 3D effect. If you apply thickness to lines, circles, ellipses, arcs, polylines, solid fills, and traces they will acquire some height. Thus by changing the shade mode they will look like 3D surfaces and/or solids. Elevation is the default distance from XY plane along Z axis. Although you can override this value with direct coordinate entry or by using OSnaps it might be useful. The current tutorial shows you how to draw a simple 3D table with the help of elevation and thickness.

Lesson 05 - Polylines
Lesson 05 - Polylines
A whole tutorial dedicated to the mighty polyline - probably the most useful command in AutoCAD. Polylines draw lines similar to the line command we used in lesson 2, but are a lot more powerful. Let`s start by drawing the same plot of land we drew in lesson 2, but this type using polylines. The polyline command is situated on the `draw` toolbar.

Autocad 3d Modeling: Trim And Extend
Autocad 3d Modeling: Trim And Extend

Beyond cad: Not Just An Expensive Etch-a-sketch
You will really love this one. Wouldn`t it be cool to have the area of a closed polyline update when the polyline itself changed? One method of changing the shape of a polyline is the Stretch command. When you have a field associated with the area of the selected object, when that object changes, you just update the field.

Lesson 3-6: Line Thickness
Lesson 3-6: Line Thickness
In this lesson you`ll create the same chair by drawing lines and then giving them thickness. Think of thickness as the height of the line or how tall it is. This is different from the width of the line that you learned in the polyline lesson. This is a quick, simple way of achieving some degree of 3-D feel. Once again, remember that in some instances, simple may do the job. This is also a good technique for AutoCAD LT users, who don`t have the option to draw in true 3-D.
