Easily Solve "file Not Found" Errors
The more reference files you have, the more difficult and time-consuming they'll be to modify. Making changes to multiple reference files one a reference file at a time can be tedious, counter-productive and expensive. If done by a human operator, there's no way to be sure that some reference attachments won't be overlooked or mishandled.

Automatically Update Spreadsheet Links Every Time Microstation Files Are Opened
Automatically Update Spreadsheet Links Every Time Microstation Files Are Opened
One of the problems that MicroStation users face is that MicroStation's LiveLinks software often does not automatically update spreadsheet or word processing data when a MicroStation file [in which this data is linked] is opened. The data is not automatically updated even though the spreadsheet or word processing file has been modified and saved after the import. In addition, the links created with LiveLinks, if later unlinked, tend to create unselectable elements in a design file.

Productivity Corner: A Close-up Look At Feature Modeling
MicroStation`s Feature Modeling extension provides a powerful set of tools for 3D solids modeling. Solids models created using the Feature Modeling tools are fully editable, either using the parameters defined during creation, or graphically using Element handles while selected. When you add a feature to a SmartSolid, MicroStation will automatically convert the SmartSolid to a feature solid.

Productivity Corner: Make Your Renderings Look More Realistic
As you begin using the design visualization tools of MicroStation, choosing the rendering method and experimenting with the results is quite common. However, the results can be very unpredictable. Sometimes, the default global lighting parameters for a given model are configured well enough and provide acceptable rendering results.

Productivity Corner: Microstation`s 3d Capabilities, Part 2
When working within a 3D model, you will be viewing the design from any direction. Tools in the MicroStation View Control tool box (figure 1) allow you to rotate a given view to any orientation, or you can specify a camera target and eye point position. To accelerate the setup, MicroStation has eight standard views you can use: top, front, right, isometric, bottom, back, left, and right isometric. You can rotate the view in any direction or add perspective.

Change A Text String Across Hundreds Of Microstation Files With Global File Changer
Using regular MicroStation tools, changing the text string "Kennedy Boulevard" to "Kennedy Boulevard/State Road 1" in one text element is a fast and painless task. Having to change all instances of this string in one MicroStation file is not a welcomed task, but it's still a bearable one. But what if this string had to be replaced across 250 MicroStation files? Doing this task could take a great amount of time and waste valuable human resources.

Productivity Corner: Dimensioning Tools Keep Your Styles In Order
With the introduction of MicroStation v8 2004 Edition, dimensioning tools are combined and tool settings are expanded for quick access to settings commonly changed during dimensioning. The selection order for dimension points has been redesigned to give you an early dynamic display of the dimension.
