Wood texture - Photoshop tutorial


Creating a nice looking wood texture

STEP 1:

Create a new file with the following values given in the below figure

STEP 2:

Now set the background color. Set the primary as #533600 and the secondary color is set to #ae7c19

STEP 3 :

Goto filter > render > clouds ..

now you will get the design of the first effect .

STEP 4 :

Goto Filter > Noise > Add Noise

Apply the following values as given in the below figure

STEP 5:

 Go to ‘Filter > Blur > Motion Blur’

set the distance options to 100 .. You will get the following figure 

STEP 6:

Press F7 to get the layer panel . You can an layer present in the layer box . Rename it to "base wood" by right clicking it . Create another layer (fifth button in the layer box) and name it as "line wood"

Goto the tool box and change the primary colour to #382500.

Now draw a vertical lines as shown below using brushes ..

see that the lines are drawn with different thickness .

STEP 7:

Goto Filter > Distort > Wave , select 'randomize' options and click 'ok'

Goto Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur ,now set the radius to 1px

Goto Filter > Blur > Motion Blur , now set the radius to 25px

This the final picture you get which looks like an wood
