Any graphics artist must know how to use basic tools to create different effects. What this tutorial will aim to do, is show you how to create a glowing effect by using the selection tools that come with GIMP.

The information, while not in-depth is aimed to get people acquainted with the quickmask (which I never even noticed until I learned about it in my Photoshop class). I'm aware there are a few other tutorials that mention the quickmask, but they seemed to use it as only a part of what they were doing. This video is my attempt to give you the basic information about it, so that you at least have an idea how it works.
