Turning Spiderman From Normal To Evil - Photoshop tutorial

1. First we will start off by simple opening an image of spiderman. The image does have to be top of the line quality to actually get a good effect however, you can suit yourself On Which Type Of Image You Would like to get. This image was taken from an older version of the Spiderman trilogy and is in not of great shape but it can be dealt with.

2. We will begin by desaturating the image. In photoshop, you can desaturate the image by going to image -> adjustments -> Desaturate. After that is done, you should get an effect somewhat similar to this. Now we have a dark, greyscaled tone of Spiderman's suit, which we will later use to make the actual black suit he wears in the movie.

3. Now we will make the suit even darker so that it looks like Spiderman's usual suit and we can replace the old, red suit that SpiderMan usually wears. Press the ctrl + M to select the curves tool, then draw a curve which will make the black shade more darker and strong enough so that the suit looks darker than what it already is but, make sure that the suit isn't so dark that you can't see the "web" outlining on the suit itself.

4. Now that you have darkened the suit with the curves tool the suit may be too dark for you to actually see the "web" outlining on the suit. One thing you may want to do in order to improve your results is t actually use the history brush tool and try to paint these outlines over and over until you achieve the effect that you want. If you set the curves well, and are well experienced with it, then you should be able to achieve the effect without having to go back and use the history brush tool.

5. Now, here is a comparison of the regular Spiderman vs. the Dark SpiderMan. As you can see, the resaults are totally different and obvious. I hope this tutorial was helpful, and maybe you can use this effect in other things such as posters :).
