Whenever I paste in a bitmap graphic (e.g., a GIF or JPEG), Word decides for itself what size the image should be in my document. I would like for it to paste in the image at its natural size and then let me scale it if necessary. Lots of images only look good at their natural sizes, so I don't want Word messing around with the dimensions.

Word’s Save As… feature is a great way to save multiple versions of the same file. You can easily preserve earlier versions of your document if you think you will need to go back to an earlier stage.

The task pane is a feature Microsoft introduced to Word and some of the other Office components within the past few years; if you are working with a version previous to Word 2002, then this feature will not be available to you.
