Waterfall
Waterfall
Fireworks 8 tutorial: Waterfall The waterfall is a powerful force of nature. This tutorial will show you how to recreate this brilliant aspect of water. And so we begin¡K. 1. Open a new Fireworks 8 project.. 2. Set the size to 625 pixels wide and 500 pixels tall. 3. When the blank document appears, go to the very top of the screen and click on ¡§Modify¡¨. 4. In the drop-down menu, select ¡§canvas¡¨ and then click on ¡§canvas color¡¨. 5. Now, once you get the hang of making these, you can make the background anything you want. But for right now let¡¦s make it black. In the window that pops up after you have clicked on ¡§canvas color¡¨, click on the ¡§custom¡¨ bubble and set the square below to black. Click OK. 6. Now in the toolbar usually set at the left hand side of the screen, click and hold on the shape creator tool. In the drop down menu that follows, select the rectangle. 7. Click and hold in one of the corners of the canvas, and drag it to the one on the opposite side. You should now have a box that covers the canvas completely. 8. In the properties tab, set the fill category to ¡§gradient¡¨ and then ¡§Bars¡¨ 9. A gradient should now be filling the box you have just created. Click on the fill color box and in the box that pops up, you should see at the top of it, a bar with a gradient the same color as the box. 10. Click on the arrow on the bottom of the left side of that bar and make the color a bright blue. Do the same with the arrow on the right but make it a fairly darker shade of blue. 11. Now the gradient in the box you made should have both those colors in them. 12. Then in the toolbar, click on the paint bucket tool. A line should appear in the middle of your canvas. 13. Click the little black box and drag it closer to the black circle in the center. Leave at least a few millimeters of space between the circle and the box. Now you should have quite a few bars in your box. 14. Go to the top of the screen now and click on ¡§filter¡¨, select the Eyecandy 4000 LE and click on ¡§Motion trail¡¨ 15. A window will pop up. There is a circle and three bars underneath it. 16. In the ¡§direction¡¨ box, type in 225 17. Then set all the bars below on their maximum setting. 18. Uncheck the box below those bars saying ¡§Smear colors from edges¡¨ 19. Click ok. 20. Now you should have a psychedelic bend of blue. Like this: 21. Now go to the left toolbar and click the polygonal lasso tool 23. Now at the top click on ¡§modify¡¨, then select ¡§transform¡¨ 24. Click on the ¡§scale¡¨ tool. 25. Rotate it by clicking anywhere on the screen and moving the mouse. 26. It should look like this now -------------------„³ 27. Now at the top, click on ¡§modify¡¨, then ¡§transform¡¨ 28. Click on ¡§Flip vertically¡¨ 29. Go back to the scale tool again and rotate it back. 30. Using the scale tool, click and hold on one of the corners. Slowly drag it out and the object will get bigger. 31. Scale it so that the solid blue part is off the screen. 32. Now we have a basic waterfall. Later on, you can go back and change colors all you want to create different effects. 33. Ok, we have the water. Let¡¦s make some mist for the bottom. 34. Click on the paintbrush tool and set its color to white. 35. In the ¡§stroke category¡¨ box, click on the arrow and select ¡§random¡¨, then click on ¡§Confetti¡¨ 36. Underneath that box, there is a box saying ¡§Edge¡¨, set that to 100. 37. Then, set the brush size to 32. 38. Now click on the ¡§new layer¡¨ button at the bottom of the layer section. 39. On this layer, paint along the line of you waterfall¡¦s edge. ( you might need to go over it a few more times. It needs to be really thick ) 40. Once, that is done, go up to ¡§filters¡¨, ¡§blur¡¨, and click on ¡§Gaussian blur¡¨ 41. Make the number 3.8. 42. Click ok. 43. The ¡§confetti should look a lot like mist now. 44. Now, in the layer box, make sure the waterfall layer is on top of the confetti paint. 45. We are now finished. Now is the time to go back and make some improvements such as a jungle background or a few rocks in the water. I urge you to experiment with these. Have fun! And no, I¡¦m not a queer.
